NEW YORK - Police are searching for a 5-year-old boy who fell into water on Randall's Island.

Police say he was last seen climbing a tree Saturday when he fell into the river. Nearby families at the park were devastated to learn the news. Some at the park say they feel bad for the boy's family.

"It makes me feel sad because they weren't expecting something like this to happen, especially to their five-year-old son. I'm praying there's a miracle and they can find the kid and he's alright,” said one person.

“If I found out one of my family members had god-forbid gotten into an accident like that, or drowned, it's very sad,” said another.

The NYPD and FDNY currently have crews in the water searching for the boy. Further details are not known at this time.
