More than a dozen people were injured Saturday morning in Hell's Kitchen when a New Jersey transit bus crashed into a divider near Port Authority.
The accident happened around 9:30 a.m, according to fire officials.
The deputy EMS chief said that at least 16 people were injured and taken to local hospitals. One person's injuries were critical.
"We came on scene there were multiple patients laying on the floor around the vehicle, and then multiple patients that were still trapped inside of the vehicle. The way the vehicle was situated there was major damage to the front so gaining access into the vehicle was also a challenge for us. Thanfully though traffic was light today so we were able to gain access pretty quick without traffic impeding into the tunnel so that actually worked in our favor,"
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
This is a developing story.
