NATIONWIDE — Thursday is International Left-Hander's Day, commemorating "southpaws" all over the world.
Founded by the Left-Handers Club, the holiday celebrates the approximately 10% of the world's population that is believed to be left-handed.
Despite the lower percentage of the population, 4 out of the last 7 presidents are southpaws and 20% of Apollo astronauts were left-handed.
In honor of the holiday, here are a few notable left-handed members of our society:
BARACK OBAMA
The 44th President of the United States is one of 8 leftys to hold the highest office in the land – James Garfield was the first lefty president, and was followed by Herbert Hoover, Gerald Ford, George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton. Harry Truman and Ronald Reagan, who are considered ambidextrous, were reported to be totally left-handed, but switched at an early age.
JIMI HENDRIX
