Police are searching for a 2-year-old and a 4-year-old who family members and sources say were kidnapped by their parents in the Bronx.
Sources tell NY1 that the two children were taken by their parents, who do not have custody of them, just before 6 p.m.
A third child, a 5-year-old, was not taken, according to family members.
Family members say 4-year-old Cella and 2-year-old Chi usually stay with their grandparents in Virginia, but they were in Baychester visiting with their grandmother.
According to family members, the children's parents were granted permission to see their kids by the family, but they then proceeded to take Cella and Chi and drive off.
"I just want them to be returned safe, whether it's to me or to their grandparents in Virginia," said Latisha Beretervide, the children's grandmother. "If their parents is watching this, or they happen to see it, just do the right thing. You're not helping yourself by doing this. I don't know what you guys were doing even trying to attempt this. You guys kidnapped your children."
"We gave them a benefit of the doubt, tried to let them see them for a little bit. And then..." said Tereen Beretervide, the children's aunt. "We just trusted her too much. And in a split second, she just took them. She made us think everything was ok and everything was fine, she was fine with just visiting. And she just manipulated us."
Police are looking for a 2008 Toyota Camry with Virginia license plate UPJ9541.
