NEW YORK - The New York City Fire Department had to help out two people who got stuck in the East River on a pool floatie over the weekend.

The department tweeted a photo Sunday of an inflatable swan being hauled aboard a rescue ship.

The S.O.S. came in around 4 p.m. near East 55th Street in Manhattan.

The FDNY says the float was overcome by the river's strong current and was drifting toward heavy marine traffic.

No one was seriously injured.

The FDNY is urging New Yorkers to always take precautions when swimming or entering the water surrounding the city.

They should only enter the water where swimming is permitted and where lifeguards are on duty.
