Two Brooklyn lawyers, charged after an NYPD vehicle was set ablaze by a Molotov cocktail during a George Floyd protest last month, were released on bail to home confinement Tuesday night.

Urooj Rahman and Colinford Mattis were released from the Metropolitan Detention Center around 9:30 p.m.

A day before, Rahman pleaded not guilty to charges related to the incident. She's accused of throwing the Molotov cocktail at an unoccupied police vehicle early in the morning on May 30.

Mattis is accused of driving the getaway car. The NYPD arrested them shortly after they fled the scene, according to prosecutors.

They faces several charges, including arson.

Rahman's lawyers argued for home detention because she needs to care for her elderly mother, whose health is declining, and did not pose a flight risk.

Rahman and Mattis were initially granted bail, but were held after prosecutors appealed twice. The State Court of Appeals granted their release to home confinement with GPS monitoring on $250,000 bond.

Prosecutors said Rahman attempted to hand out Molotov cocktails to other people.

If convicted on all charges, they are facing a mandatory minimum of 45 years and up to life in prison.

It’s not clear when their trial would begin.
