Two people were killed — including a suspect whom police officers shot — and a man was stabbed in a Manhattan apartment on Wednesday evening, the NYPD said.
It happened just before 7 p.m. at a fifth-floor apartment at a building on Saint Nicholas Terrace near West 127th Street in Harlem. Officers said they responded to a 911 call of a person shot.
Sources told NY1 the incident began when a man knocked on the door of his sister-in-law’s apartment. Upon entering the apartment, the man shot and killed his sister-in-law, sources said.
The man then stabbed another male also in the apartment who was allegedly having an affair with the suspect’s wife, according to sources.
Police said a sergeant shot the 44-year-old suspect in the torso as he was engaged in a violent struggle with the man and refused to drop a knife. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 9-millimeter Glock and 12-inch kitchen knife were recovered at the scene, according to police officials.
The male stabbed was seriously hurt, sources said.
The man’s wife was also in the apartment, but she was unarmed and not injured, sources said.
The NYPD confirmed no officers were injured in the incident.
