NEW YORK - The mayor's office says a $30,000 settlement for a crash involving his security detail "is in the best interest of the city and the NYPD."
A deal was reached this week over the 2015 crash on the FDR, where First Lady Chirlane McCray was a passenger.
Another driver had to have shoulder surgery after the four-car pile up, in which the city says an SUV swerved into McCray's car.
That driver will pay $5,000 in the settlement, but denies she caused the crash.
That accident happened the same month as another crash involving the mayor's detail, where his SUV was driving in the wrong direction in Harlem.
The de Blasio administration has been accused of covering up that accident.
