New Yorkers were hit with a one-two punch of cold temperatures and snow Saturday afternoon, though snow accumulations were small.
The forecast called for one to three inches of snow to hit the city. Central Park reported 1.3 inches of snow as of 5 p.m. Saturday.
The snow switched over to rain in the early evening.
Wintry conditions blew through Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood. People were bundled up and tried to protect themselves from the elements.
In Forest Hills, Queens, people trekked through the snow on the sidewalk.
For the most part cars, didn't have a problem getting through the snow, but it was slippery in spots.
In the Bronx, traffic was at a standstill. There were reports of a multiple-car crash on the the Bronx River Parkway. However, there was no word on the number of cars or people involved.
The snow was expected to change over to rain in the evening before the precipitation moved out of the area.
Temperatures were in the low 20s in New York City Saturday morning. They rose into the 30s by the early evening.
Temperatures are expected to remain cold for most of next week, but no precipitation is currently in the forecast through Friday.
