NEW YORK - Mayor Bill de Blasio reportedly used his police security detail to take his son Dante to and from Yale University during Dante's freshman year at the school.
According to the Daily News, detectives with the Executive Protection Unit made the trip to and from Connecticut seven or eight times even though Dante was not facing any security risks.
The paper also says detectives would pick up Dante from Penn Station when he started taking the train to and from Yale in his sophomore year.
The report comes a few months after the Daily News discovered that members of the mayor's security detail helped move his daughter Chiara out of her apartment in Brooklyn.
Sources tell the News the Department of Investigation is looking into the mayor's use of his detail to help his children.
But they suspect investigators are just trying to find out which officers are talking to the media.
A spokeswoman for the mayor says his family follows all ethics rules and points out that the mayor's children are guaranteed NYPD protection.
