The "F" train is speeding up. New rush-hour express service on the line began this morning.
Going forward, there will be two express trips to Manhattan in the morning, and two express trips to Coney Island at night.
Those trains will be labeled with the letter "F" inside a diamond.
The trains will run between Church Avenue and Jay Street-MetroTech, making only one stop in between at 7th Avenue.
Passengers NY1 spoke to this morning are excited about the faster commute.
"That was very fast. I'm really surprised," said one commuter. "It's only 7:35 and we're alreayd at 7th Avenue. That was really fast. I'm excited."
"I could use some express. This will knock about 5 or 6 minutes off the trek in the mornings," said another.
A number of politicians have criticized the express service, saying it bypasses too many stops, leaving many of their constituents high and dry.
State Senator Brian Kavanaugh, who represents Lower Manhattan and part of western Brooklyn, says the MTA didn't consult communities that could be negatively affected.
