The NYPD judge who recommended Officer Daniel Pantaleo be fired for putting Eric Garner in a fatal chokehold says that the officer's recount of the incident was "untruthful," according to an opinion from the judge obtained by the New York Times.
In the 46-page opinion, which was posted on the Times' website, Judge Rosemarie Maldonado also described Pantaleo as "disingenuous" in his accounts to investigators back in 2014.
She also calls other officers who testified about the case "unhelpful or unreliable."
Pantaleo did not testify in his own defense during the departmental trial, and was suspended earlier this month after the recommendation that he be fired was issued.
Police Commissioner James O'Neill is expected to make a decision this month, with sources indicating it could come potentially as early as Monday.
