Mayor de Blasio is out of town campaigning again this weekend, joining fellow Democratic presidential candidates in Iowa.
De Blasio Is scheduled to appear at a gun safety forum hosted by former Mayor Michael Bloomberg Saturday afternoon.
The mayor and first lady will round out their weekend by meeting other Democrats at the Iowa State Fair.
Last night, de Blasio spoke at the Iowa Wing Ding Dinner, where he brough up the work his wife is doing on mental health issues.
"And to everyone in this room who cares about mental healthcare, Chirlaine has it made it her business to break down the stigma that's keeping people from getting people the mental healthcare they need,” said de Blasio. “We need to fix that in America, we need to fix that in Iowa, don't we?”
This trip happens as a formal complaint against the mayor violating campaign finance laws is launched.
He allegedly used money that was donated to Political Action Committees in support of other candidates.
If that's true, it would mean donors exceeded contribution limits and those funds were not properly disclosed.
