NEW YORK - The city is launching its new healthcare program Thursday in the Bronx.

All New Yorkers will be eligible for a NYC Care card regardless of ability to pay or immigration status.

The program guarantees access to health care and primary care doctors on a sliding scale.

It is an expansion of a health insurance option called Metro Plus that's offered by NYC Health and Hospitals for use at city-run hospitals.

It's estimated that more than 600,000 New Yorkers do not have health coverage.

The plan is expected to cost the city $100 million a year.
