There was a buzz among residents of one Bronx building over some unwanted neighbors Friday night.

The city police department responded after calls that a swarm of bees was sitting right at the entrance to a Bedford Park building.

"I saw a lot of bees around where I live on the sixth floor," one child said. "I got scared because I thought I was going to get stung."

Residents said they came out of their apartment building around 4 p.m. to see thousands of bees flying from tree to tree along Grand Concourse.

The NYPD vacuumed the bees out of the tree late Friday night. They'll be transferred to a farm upstate.

Officers said this time of year is known as swarming season, meaning queen bees take their colonies in search of new homes.

Paolicelli: Have you ever seen anything like this before?'

Local resident: No, not over here. In the woods, yeah, not over here in the Concourse."

"I mean, scared because I want to be able to stand in front of my building and carry my daughter and I don't want her to get stung, you know," one local resident said.

There were no reports of the bees stinging anyone.

Police said nighttime is best time to remove bees because they are less active than during the day.
