The city is planning to build a new 175-bed men's homeless shelter in Washington Heights.
It will be located on Audubon Avenue near West 180th Street.
This is part of the de Blasio administration's plan to get rid of all cluster sites and commercial hotel facilities across the city, including one in this district.
The Department of Social Services says it plans to create a community advisory board to hold regular meetings with community members to address any concerns they may have.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the department added, "This new high-quality facility will offer 175 individuals experiencing homelessness the opportunity to be sheltered in their home borough, closer to their support networks and communities they called home as they get back on their feet."
The shelter is expected to open by this fall.
