WASHINGTON - Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez embraced her reputation as a radical in her first TV interview as a member of Congress.
Ocasio-Cortez appeared on "60 Minutes" Sunday night with Anderson Cooper who asked, "Do you consider yourself a radical?"
"You know, if that's what radical means, call me a radical," she replied.
Ocasio-Cortez discussed her ambitious plans for energy reform under a "Green New Deal."
President Donald Trump was also brought up during the interview.
When asked if she thought Trump is racist, the congresswoman's answer was an unequivocal yes.
"The president certainly didn't invent racism. but he's certainly given a voice to it and expanded it and created a platform for those things," Ocasio-Cortez said.
The White House has hit back at Ocasio-Cortez for her remarks, pointing to criminal justice reforms recently signed by the president.
