NEW YORK - Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is recovering in New York after having two cancerous growths removed from her lung.
The 85-year-old underwent a pulmonary lobectomy Friday at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
According to court officials, two nodules in the lower lobe of her left lung were discovered incidentally during tests performed at George Washington University Hospital to diagnose and treat rib fractures sustained in a fall on November 7.
Both growths were taken from her left lung, and doctors say there's no evidence the cancer has spread.
At this time, no further treatment is planned.
This is Ginsburg's third bout with cancer since joining the court in 1993.
Ginsburg will remain in the hospital for a few days.
