NEW YORK - A judge has thrown out President Donald Trump's motion to dismiss a Trump Foundation lawsuit.
The New York Attorney General's office alleges Trump and his family misused charity funds from the Trump Foundation.
New York Supreme Court Justice Saliann Scarpulla denied Trump's arguments that the lawsuit was rooted in political bias and found it fell within the office's jurisdiction.
The judge also determined Attorney General Barbara Underwood's office brought sufficient evidence for the lawsuit to proceed.
The Attorney General's office said it welcomed the decision to move the suit forward, adding "The Trump Foundation functioned as little more than a checkbook to serve Mr. Trump’s business and political interests. There are rules that govern private foundations — and we intend to enforce them, no matter who runs the foundation."
