PALMDALE, Calif. - Jennifer Parks is being remembered by the 32 kindergarteners she taught at Anaverde Hills School in Palmdale.
“The thing that we are going to miss and honor everyday with the way we live our lives is just her infectious, positive spirit. Every day was a day for a new beginning and a day to have a great day and to smile and to laugh and to sing and to dance and to just enjoy the sunshine on your face," said Shannon Rosall, co-principal at Anaverde Hills School. "And that is what we are going to honor from Mrs. Parks.”
While students are honoring their teacher with their lives, they’re also honoring her with their hearts. The box with their “letters to heaven” is packed for Mrs. Parks.
Rosall shares how their beloved teacher made everyone feel like family.
“One of my favorite things is I would walk into her classroom and they have this little routine where whenever anybody would come in, she would say, ‘knock, knock.’ And the kids would all say, ‘who’s there?’ And she would tell them, ‘you have a visitor.’ And they would all look at the visitor and say, ‘welcome.’” And it was just this amazing way to make everybody feel they were part of her classroom family," said Rosall.
Parks taught at Anaverde for just three years, but in those years, made memories that will last for lifetimes.
“She loved teaching kids to love to come to school, and to love to learn and to be engaged in what they were doing every day,” said Rosall.
