If you ever hear the words, “you have cancer,” one hospital that comes to mind is Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center here in the city. On her first day back after battling pancreatic cancer, Ruschell Boone welcomed Dr. Selwyn Vickers, President and CEO at MSK. He shared more on their work and how New Yorkers around the city can turn to them for help.
Dr. Vickers says that MSK “want[s] to be the cancer center to the world. And there are worlds in New York that have sometimes felt that they haven’t had access to us. So one of our major focuses is to expand that access outside of the Upper East Side. As you know, we have access now in Queens. With the partnership with Jamaica Queens. We have access in Brooklyn through Brooklyn Flatbush. We have clinics across the tri-state area.”
Vickers also says that it’s important that you pay attention to your body and get regular screenings.
