NY1's Pat Kiernan sat down with Police Commissioner Dermot Shea for a wide-ranging interview.
During the one-hour interview, Shea said there are big challenges ahead for the Mayor-elect and discussed the way crime and public safety became a major issue in the Democratic primary for mayor.
"I think Eric recognized it quicker, capitalized on it faster too, believes it too, which is awfully important," he said. "You know, I think it's going to be a big challenge because I don't think you can have anything of the things we want without a safe city."
