In addition to cleaning up from yesterday's snow, the Sanitation Department is still trying to catch up on trash collection after last week's storm.
Sanitation Commissioner Ed Grayson told NY1 crews are hard at work making garbage pickups around the city.
"We are working this entire week in order to get back on schedule. Unfortunately for all New Yorkers, and everybody is seeing it's a pretty active weather pattern. So what we're asking all New Yorkers is just be patient. The same women and men out there that are out fighting the storm, they pick up the garbage and the recycling,” Grayson said.
“So please just leave it out, put it out. We know sometimes you can't hold onto it, we totally understand, have some patience, we are coming,” he said.
Recycling pickup is also behind schedule, because it's only on the calendar once per week.
