1. Cuomo discusses ICE on Rikers, Hochul and Trump in exclusive NY1 interview
In an interview with NY1, mayoral candidate Andrew Cuomo weighed in on a variety of topics impacting the city, including U.S. Immigration and Customer Enforcement opening an office at Rikers Island, President Donald Trump’s federal policies and affordable housing.
Cuomo also spoke about his personal relationship with Gov. Kathy Hochul, who served as his lieutenant governor for years, before their relationship soured by the end of his time in Albany.
2. FAA says company whose sightseeing chopper crashed, killing 6, is ceasing operations immediately
The Federal Aviation Administration said Sunday that the helicopter tour company whose sightseeing chopper broke apart in flight and crashed in New York, killing the pilot and a family of five visitors from Spain, is shutting down operations immediately.
The FAA, in a statement posted on X, also said it would launch an immediate review of New York Helicopter Tours’ operating license and safety record..
3. Palm Sunday mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral draws residents and tourists
New Yorkers gathered at St. Patrick’s Cathedral and other churches across the city Sunday to mark Palm Sunday, the start of Holy Week.
“This is the best church in New York City, so it’s a really good time to be here,” said Lawrence Stayton, a worshipper at St. Patrick’s Cathedral.
The holiday commemorated the arrival of Jesus into Jerusalem and drew hundreds of residents and tourists.
