National Grid New York vowed earlier this year to invest $21 billion across the state over the next five years in boosting the state’s electric grid.
The plan is to prepare the state for extreme weather and to meet its clean energy goals.
This includes the creation of new substations and rebuilding more than a thousand miles of transmission lines connecting upstate cities, like Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse.
Meanwhile, the company plans to replace 45 miles of gas lines per year in the city and 119 miles per year on Long Island.
Rudy Wynter, the outgoing president of the National Grid, joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Monday to discuss more.
