A coalition of safe streets and immigrant rights advocates are pushing back on a bill being considered by the City Council that would require registration and licensing for e-bikes.

In a recent letter to the council, they argue the move would be dangerous, expensive and fail to make streets safer.

Los Deliveristas Unidos, which represents food delivery workers, was one of 31 groups and organizations to sign the letter.

This comes as concerns grow around the safety of e-bikes and lithium-ion batteries, which are known to spark violent and deadly fires.

Ligia Guallpa, the executive director of the Workers Justice Project, behind Los Deliveristas Unidos, joined NY1 political reporter Bobby Cuza on “Inside City Hall” Tuesday to discuss more.
