Bill Heinzen, the acting commissioner of the city’s Taxi & Limousine Commission, and Bhairavi Desai of the New York Taxi Workers Alliance, joined Grace Rauh to discuss Mayor de Blasio’s new effort to help struggling taxi and for-hire drivers, which includes temporarily eliminating operating fees for taxi drivers, extending a cap on new licenses for For-Hire vehicles like Uber and Lyft and limiting the amount of time drivers can drive without any passengers.
