Dr. Shawn Rux, senior executive director at New School Development and Design, talked about HBCU Early College Prep slated to open in southeast Queens this fall.

He shared what the school will offer, saying students will leave with a high school diploma and an associate’s degree from DSU.

Dr. Rux discussed what students can expect to learn and experience in this first-ever HBCU accelerated high school in the city.

He says the school will tie in HBCU traditions and experiences for children to start earlier and mentioned the threat of DEI elimination across the country would affect the school and students.
