Lunar New Year Parade

Chinatown's annual Lunar New Year Parade steps off Sunday afternoon. The celebration of the Year of the Snake will include martial artists, cultural performers, festival booths and more.
The parade route stretches from its start at the intersection of Mott and Canal streets through East Broadway and ends next to Sara D. Roosevelt Park.

NYBG Orchid Show
- Open from Feb. 15 to April 27
- New York Botanical Garden, the Bronx

New Yorkers are invited to experience all things orchid at the New York Botanical Garden's 22nd edition of their annual orchid show.
This year's theme is "Mexican Modernism," with the orchids displayed in "settings inspired by the bold, multicolored designs of architect Luis Barragán."
The exhibit will also be open on select nights for dance parties. More information here.
Silvered Langur Baby at the Bronx Zoo

New Yorkers visiting the Bronx Zoo's JungleWorld exhibit will be able to spot a new inhabitant by its orange-colored coat.
An infant silvered langur monkey has been born, and, over the course of the next three to five months, its orange coat will gradually change to the silvery color sported by adults of the species.
Silvered langurs are listed as a “vulnerable” species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
St. Valentine's Day 5K
- Saturday, Feb. 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Bring yourself, family and friends to join this special Valentine’s Day 5K.
Participants will take part in a guided run through East Harlem from East 112th Street and First Avenue to the East River and back. The event is free and open to the public.
Sea Shanty Sessions
- Sunday, Feb. 16 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- The Noble Maritime Collection, Staten Island
- Admission is pay-what-you wish. More information here
Led by the Folk Music Society of New York, this program is free and family friendly.
Visitors are encouraged to sing along if the mood strikes. Sessions are held on the third Sunday of every month.
Bryant Park Winter Village
- Open through March 2
- Bryant Park, Manhattan
- Free and open to the public
Bryant Park's Winter Village includes an ice skating rink and an indoor lodge with food and drink options.
Also, as of Jan. 10, New Yorkers can reserve tickets to ride bumper cars on ice.

Ice skating is open for the season at The Rink at Rockefeller Center. The center's website calls it one of the city's "quintessential winter activities."
