Rockefeller Center Tree Arrives

An annual holiday staple and one of the city's most iconic sights will arrive on Saturday morning. The 74-foot-tall Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree from West Stockbridge, Massachusetts will be hoisted into place by a crane at approximately 9 a.m. Rockfeller Center will also host holiday-themed activities for all ages from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Subway Therapy

- Free and open to the public
Started after the 2016 presidential election as a way to relieve stress or share excitment, the Post-it note display has returned to the city after the creator took the idea to transit hubs all over the world. New Yorkers are encouraged to share their thoughts in the aftermath of the 2024 election.
Brooklyn Folk Festival

The 16th Brooklyn Folk Festival is being held in Brooklyn Heights this weekend. Fifty bands and performers will take part in the event, which is presented by the Jalopy Theatre and School of Music in Red Hook.

New York Comedy Festival

The city's annual comedy festival returns with more than 200 comedians performing in more than 100 shows at venues across the five boroughs. From big stars to smaller acts, stand-up sets, sketch comedy and improv troupes will all have their moment. The festival's founder said we "need comedy now more than ever."

The Subway Is...

The subway system just celebrated its 120th anniversary, having opened on Oct. 27, 1904. It continues to move millions of people each day.
A new exhibit at the New York Transit Museum uses vintage pictures, objects, models and even advertisements to tell the story of the subway and explore the different ways of completing the sentence, "The subway is..."
