Brooklyn Museum's 200th Birthday Bash

To celebrate 200 years as an institution, the Brooklyn Museum is hosting a weekend full of events. Organizers say the programming "highlights the best of the borough and marks two centuries of championing Brooklyn’s artistic communities."
Activities include music and karaoke, dance and poetry, gallery tours and art-making, piñatas and more.

Biketober
- Oct. 5 at 11 a.m.
- Learn to ride and helmet fitting in Seward Park, Manhattan
- Bike the block at Woodside Avenue, Queens
- Free and open to the public
The city Department of Transportation is hosting more than 15 events throughout the month encouraging safe cycling. This weekend, Bike the Block in Woodside, Queens will feature a series of open-street events focused on bicycle education, rides and resources.
At Seward Park in Manhattan, aspiring cyclists can get fitted for a helmet and learn how to ride a bicycle.
Both events start Saturday at 11 a.m.

Chelsea Long Table

- West 21st Street between Ninth and 10th avenues, Manhattan

Organizers say more than 700 New Yorkers will have a potluck lunch on one very long table in the middle of the open street on West 21st Street in Manhattan.
The meal has become an annual tradition after starting two years ago following the height of COVID. Five hundred people came out the first year, according to organizers. Anyone is welcome.
The Subway Is...

Since the New York City subway opened on Oct. 27, 1904, it has moved millions of people each day.
A new exhibit at the New York Transit Museum uses vintage pictures, objects, models and even advertisements to tell the story of the subway and explore the different ways of completing the sentence, "The subway is..."

The Bronx Zoo's annual celebration of spooky season is back. The zoo encourages people to come dressed in their Halloween costumes for a variety of holiday-related activities, including pumpkin carving, face painting and Halloween crafts.

Queens County Farm 'Amazing Maize Maze'

Queens County Farm is set up for the fall season. New Yorkers can find their perfect pumpkin in the patch and check out the farm's "Amazing Maize Maze" — the only corn maze in New York City. Those up to the task will have to find clues as they attempt to navigate themselves out of a 3-acre labyrinth.
Also, for just this weekend, the farm will host the Queens Ag Fair — featuring hayrides, farm animals, competitions and live performances.

Halloween Harvest at Luna Park

Coney Island's Luna Park is set up for the Halloween season. New activities at the theme park include trick-or-treating, tractor racing, pumpkin decorating and a pumpkin patch.
There are also seasonal treats, including pumpkin-spiced funnel cakes.
