New York City is a multicultural hub with dozens of museums, hundreds of parks and millions of people. The number of potential things to see and do can feel overwhelming, but NY1 has you covered with some of the highlights taking place this weekend across the five boroughs.

Global Citizen Festival

Post Malone and Doja Cat headline the performers at this year's Global Citizen Festival, an annual concert from an organization dedicated to fighting extreme poverty and climate change.

 

Ragamuffin Parade

  • Sept. 28 at 12:30 p.m.
  • 76th Street and Third Avenue in Brooklyn
  • Free and open to the public

Now in its 58th year, this Bay Ridge celebration was the first parade devoted solely to children in the city and remains one of its largest pre-Halloween events.

Children from toddlers to preteens will march down Third Avenue in makeshift costumes alongside marching bands, pipe and drum corps, dance groups, vintage cars and floats.

 

New York BagelFest

  • Sept. 28 - 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Top bagel artisans from around the globe bring their best to New York BagelFest. Attendees get to sample a variety of bagels and cast their vote for "Best Bagel" and "Schmear of the Year," among other categories.

There are also classes on the art of bagel making and panel discussions with leaders in the bagel industry.

 

Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk

  • Sept. 29 at 9:30 a.m.

Held annually on the last Sunday of September, the event honors firefighter Stephen Siller’s final footsteps from the foot of the Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers — paying homage to Siller and the other firefighters, law enforcement officers and civilians who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001.

Brooklyn Book Festival

  • Sept. 29 throughout day

The annual literary celebration features more than 200 publishers of all genres in panel discussions, book signings and other events at venues across Downtown Brooklyn Sunday.

 

Harvest Festival at Randall's Island Park

  • Sept. 29 from noon to 3:00 p.m.
  • Randall’s Island Fields 62, 63 and the Urban Farm
  • Free and open to the public

Randall’s Island Park hosts its annual family friendly celebration of fall in the park, with activities including face painting, live music, crafts and samplings of fresh farm food.

Kids can also take home a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch and enjoy free treats.

 

Halloween Harvest at Luna Park

  • Sept. 20 to Oct. 27
  • Luna Park at Coney Island, Brooklyn

Coney Island's Luna Park is set up for the Halloween season. New activities at the theme park include trick-or-treating, tractor racing, pumpkin decorating and a pumpkin patch.

There are also seasonal treats, including pumpkin-spiced funnel cakes.

 

University Open Air from Brooklyn Public Library

It's the 10th season for Brooklyn Public Library's University Open Air, which organizers describe as "a platform for globally trained immigrants to share their knowledge with New Yorkers."

Experts from countries around the world, including Venezuela, Mauritius, Tibet and Uganda, offer courses covering a wide range of subjects, including French literature, salsa music and meditation.
