New Yorkers are preparing for the return of Manhattanhenge this week.

On Wednesday and Thursday, residents and visitors will have the final opportunity this year to witness the sun’s alignment with the east-west streets of Manhattan.

The visual spectacle will begin at sunset, around 8:20 p.m., on both nights.

However, weather may be an issue. Thursday’s forecast is calling for isolated late-day thunderstorms, but glimpses will still be possible. Forecasters recommend bringing an umbrella when scouting out views.

For those hoping to catch a glimpse, experts recommend positioning yourself along 14th, 23rd, 34th, 42nd or 57th streets. These vantage points provide unobstructed views of the setting sun as it aligns with the city's grid pattern.

Manhattanhenge returns to the city in May and July 2024.
