Kids across the city are graduating, and because of the pandemic, most of the celebrations are happening virtually.

A very special guest joined NY1 today to talk about this. Fourteen-year-old Scholastic Kid Reporter Amelia Poor loves to read and is passionate about the leaders in her community. She's graduating from eighth grade at M.S. 51 in Brooklyn.

She discussed what these past few months, and the adjustment to remote learning, have been like for her.

She says that while it's been disappointing not to have closure with friends and teachers, her school has come up with ways to keep students engaged.

Poor also gave her thoughts on why kids are more engaged today, saying the digital world offers different perspectives and stories.

Poor aspires to be a journalist one day and says she's kept a journal every day during the pandemic so she can look back and reflect on these unprecedented times.
