The city’s Department of Education has extended the deadline for middle and high school applications to Monday, Dec. 5 following website difficulties Wednesday.
Incoming middle and high school students previously had until the end of day Thursday to submit their applications for the next academic year. However, parents and students took to social media Wednesday to report issues with the website crashing, or not loading.
The DOE confirmed the website issues in a tweet, but noted that students had until Friday, Dec. 9 to submit additional requirements to existing applications, “such as auditions or assessments.”

“Families applying to middle or high school: Due to high site traffic, MySchools.nyc is experiencing delays: we are currently working to address,” the DOE tweeted.
The technical issues eventually resulted in the department extending the deadline for applications, according to DOE press secretary Nathaniel Styler.
