Witches and warlocks won't be marching through the streets of Greenwich Village this year in the annual Halloween parade. So we're taking a look back at past costumes worn by the NY1 team while hosting the spooky Manhattan tradition. We also found some of the best costumes we've seen along the parade route. Still haven't decided what you'll dress up as this year? Maybe these favorites will spark your creativity.

Our Past Costumes

In 2013, Pat and Jamie were ready to deliver newspapers as they dressed up as newspaper boys from "Newsies." This is the only time they wore the same costume.

In 2014, the whole crew transformed into cast members from the iconic New York Show, "On The Town"

In 2015, Pat and Jamie dressed up as lead singers from "School of Rock." Jamie says this is her favorite costume because she was able to rock pink hair for the evening.

In 2016, Pat and Jamie played the Phantom and Christine Daaé from the classic "Phantom of the Opera."

In 2017 Pat was set to be Willy Wonka. But the parade was canceled after a terrorist attack in Lower Manhattan.

In 2018, Pat painted his face green and became Elphaba, and Jamie dressed up as Glinda from the hit musical, "Wicked"

In 2019, the entire NY1 crew dressed as the cast of "Beetlejuice"

Best Paradegoer Costumes

Over the years of celebrating Halloween with New Yorkers, we've seen many creative costumes worn by paradegoers. Here are some of our favorites.

In 1996, this trio went as silverware.

In 1997, the bride of Frankenstein came to life for the parade.

In 2001, a paradegoer turned herself into a souvenir for tourists.

In 2014, a family of ghosts left the cemetery to be interviewed by NY1's Stephanie Simon.

In 2016, this creative costume resembled a New Yorker's worst nightmare: a windshield covered in parking tickets.

Rides aren't usually part of the Halloween parade, but in 2019 this couple decided to find a way to make it happen.

Without the parade taking place this year, Halloween will be different. But we're still celebrating and hope you join us! Pat and Jamie will keep the spirit alive with a special show on Saturday, October 31 at 7 p.m. Watch on NY1 or stream on the Spectrum News app.
