A nonprofit in the city just recently added the topic of social media safety, digital literacy and mental health to its curriculum.
The program is called Just Ask Me. It is a peer-led sexual education and health program for middle school students in the South Bronx. Trained high school and college students lead workshops for sixth through eight grade students on topics that range from gender identity to reproductive health, and now social media and mental health.
Katie Shillman, the health education coordinator at the Women’s Housing and Economic Development Corporation, spoke with anchor Rocco Vertuccio about the program Saturday morning on “Weekends on 1.”
