The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority says it will be shutting down the above-ground Metro Rail service for construction.
The service will be shut down from Oct. 27 through Nov. 24 as crews work to fortify track infrastructure and improve safety. The NFTA says this will enhance the travel experience for passengers.
A shuttle service will be provided to minimize the inconvenience to passengers while the Metro Rail service is down. The shuttle will run every 20 minutes between Allen Medical Campus and Canalside Station. Transit employees will be on-site to assist passengers, according to the NFTA.
The intersection of Main Street and Court Street will be closed between Oct. 28 and Nov. 8, which will impact Metro Bus routes 1, 2, 4, 69, 70 and 72.
Full regular Metro Rail service on both tracks resumes on Dec. 1. Riders are encouraged to plan ahead by signing up for Metro Alerts and allow extra time for travel. More information can be found at NFTA.com.
