ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — After being shut down for several hours, operations at St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport resumed Friday evening following a "security incident."

According to official, a flight attendant on a plane to Cincinnati found a note with a bomb threat on it just before 5 p.m., which resulted in the plane being evacuated.

The note included a threat to all Allegiant planes, but officials say no evidence of an explosive device found in or around the airport, or in any planes.

Pinellas County Sheriff's Office officials said K-9 deputies investigated the bomb with the assistance of K-9 units from surrounding agencies. No injuries were reported in connection with the incident, investigators said there is no threat to the public.

Kathleen Nelson told Spectrum News that she was on the Allegiant plane when the passengers were told to exit the plane.

She said passengers were waiting for about 20 minutes for takeoff.

Nelson said passengers were told to leave personal items on the plane, which was headed to Cincinnati.

In a statement, Allegiant said: "On 4/25/2025, Flight 2006, scheduled to depart St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) at 3:59 p.m. local time bound for Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG), was delayed due to a possible security issue. The safety of our passengers and crew is always our priority. Because this is an active investigation, we must defer to law enforcement for additional information."
