BRANDON, Fla. — The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) says deputies shot and killed a man who was dressed and armed with full military gear in public Wednesday morning.
They say the man, later identified as 34-year-old Vincent Tyler Morin did not comply when deputies asked him to put his gun down.
This happened around 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of Windingwood Avenue and Providence Road in Brandon.
HCSO says they received multiple calls about the man who had a fully-loaded rifle, body armor, a headset, and more.
Chief Deputy Joseph Maurer says deputies arrived on scene minutes later and asked Morin to drop his weapon. After refusing, three deputies shot the man, who later died from his injuries.
"That suspect, whatever his intentions were, were not peaceful. You don't dress in army fatigues, with attack vests, with body armor, a fully loaded assault rifle, and comms on your head to do anything peaceful," Maurer said.
HCSO said Morin did not have a history of violent crime.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating, which is standard procedure.
