UNC Charlotte students are hoping to take emergency response into their own hands.
A new initiative is calling for a local student-run EMS program on the grounds of the Charlotte campus. It has already gained several hundred signatures, according to a petition on Change.org.
Organizers said in a social media post the goal is to “ensure quick, reliable emergency medical care for yourself and your peers while relieving the load on local county response systems.”
Students tell Spectrum News 1 they’ll be presenting their efforts to the Niner student body government Thursday evening.
The full details from the university of what steps must be taken before the program can be taken under consideration have not yet been released.
