PALM HARBOR, Fla. — Evan Hedrick is a business education teacher at Carwise Middle School. He teaches a number of classes including business education and intro to marketing. 

“We learn about web design, Photoshop, and then a little bit of entrepreneurship," said Hedrick.

Hedrick was nominated by his mom to be featured as an A+ Teacher. She's a substitute teacher and sees the connections he builds with his students first-hand.

Hendrick said his goal is to help his students succeed in his classes and learn life skills.

“Whether it’s public speaking, being able to overcome being shy, or come out of your uncomfortable zone," said Hedrick.

Hedrick is also a coach at Carwise. He coaches girls and boys basketball and flag football. Hedrick transitioned to his teaching career from one in banking and investments for 12 years.

“When it came time to make a career change, my family teaches, all of my family are teachers so it seemed like the right fit for me. Plus I enjoy it," said Hedrick.

He says this job feels like home.

“My goals for students are to achieve more success than I have and to go on and become a big deal," said Hedrick.

Hedrick has planned trips for his students to Disney and he has brought food trucks to school to celebrate their projects.
