Operation Gratitude handed out 260 care packages to the officers at the NYPD's 121st precinct Tuesday. The Los Angeles nonprofit has distributed gifts to first responders and armed servicemembers around the world for past 18 years. The care packages had Starbucks coffee, homemade bracelets and personally written letters of appreciation.
"We've been through a crazy year. And it's the little cards like this and the meaningfil stories behind them that make me feel really appreciated," said NYPD Officer Diana Nerguti.
"It's the small gestures like these that go a long way and makes you feel valued in your job. Sometimes this job can be a thankless job," said said NYPD Officer Emin Demo.
In total Operation Gratitude handed out one thousand care packages throughout the borough Tuesday. It will be distributing more gifts around the city over the next several months.
