A non-profit was helping dads connect with their kids, using music, during an event on Staten Island on Sunday.

The initiative called Fatherhood Is Lit and its participants organized an event at the Project Lab in Stapleton.

Dads and their children were then given lessons on making music using a computer program called Garage Band.

Those behind the event say their goal is to help fathers connect with their children.

At the end, fathers and their children were able to take home one of the beats they created on a CD.
