The MTA starts renovations on the Staten Island Railway's Richmond Valley station.

Crews started the renovation project Monday morning. The station opened in 1860. This is a $2.2 million , ten- month project. Work includes repairs to the station’s concrete structure, steel beams and columns, platforms, staircases and platform canopies. The MTA will also add new amenities , including extra benches, new signage, customer information displays, new glass panels even some artwork will be installed. The station will stay open during these renovations. The work will be done in phases to minimize the impact on commuters.
