Some Staten Island students are staying active during spring break.

Assemblyman Michael Cusick hosted a basketball activity day Thursday at Fastbreak Hoops in Richmond Valley.

It's all part of his ongoing "Total Fitness Challenge," designed to keep kids moving.

Students in kindergarten through 8th grade didn't only play basketball Thursday but also got to play kickball and took part in relay races.

One parent NY1 spoke with says her son and daughter have been attending every Total Fitness Challenge event.

"They like to come and be able to come and have fun, and play, and get out of the house. They don't like the video games or anything like that; so, to have a place to go and just play with other kids and things like that just gives them enjoyment," said Wendy Williams, a parent.

The Total Fitness Challenge has been going on for 10 years.
