For women's history month, the Staten Island Museum held a Celebration of Women Writers on Sunday. Writers with Staten Island roots were highlighted including Audre Lorde, Dorothy Day, and Catherine Murray.
"Extraordinary women writers from Staten Island, who lived, or worked, or wrote about Staten Island. And we're here to celebrate them through reading their work and putting their words into the world and really having their work be heard again," said Staten Island Museum Program Manager Rylee Eterginoso.
Museum-goers learned about different works of poetry, fiction, and diaries written by women.
