Doctor Frank Rosell of Staten Island University Hospital received the double-star asterisk for his distinguished work performing heart surgeries.  He is the only surgeon in New York State to receive the distinction for significantly lower mortality outcomes when performing coronary artery bypass grafting.  Doctor Rosell performed more than 250 successful coronary bypass surgeries with no deaths over the past 3 years.

"It's the work of a surgeon with a whole team standing behind him and a hospital with a whole infrastructure and team to work with patients with a lot of comorbidities and high risk of complications," said Dr. Rosell.

Staten Island University Hospital will be holding its Heart Health Expo on Wednesday from 5 to 9pm. The event offers free heart and cholesterol screenings.
