WASHINGTON -- The NAACP is officially under new leadership.

Derrick Johnson will be its 19th president and CEO.

He said the organization will be much more politically active in the coming years. Johnson has served as interim leader since the NAACP parted ways with former president Cornell Brooks earlier this year.
