Dreyfus Intermediate School, also known as I.S. 49, is one of only two schools on the state's persistently dangerous list for the 2017-2018 school year.
Meanwhile at a news conference in Brooklyn on Tuesday, city leaders said this past school year was the safest on record.
City officials said there has been an 18 percent drop in major crimes since the 2014-2015 school year.
This past school year also saw a decrease in arrests and the number of summonses school safety officers passed out.
The city began keeping records on school safety about two decades ago.
The other school to make the persistently dangerous list was P.S. 183 in the Rockaways.
